[18.04.2018] Forestry Chamber Meeting

The meeting was held in Belgrade and members of the Commission and of the Chamber worked on the new proposal for the vocational education, the license and the trainee period for forest engineers.

Concept of the Education & Postgraduate Training:

  • The new “basic license” shall cover not only 4 but a full set of forestry subjects
  • The new basic license is depending on a successful 1 year trainee period and a license ex-amination
  • There will be a new article in the Forest Law on the trainee year linking to a new bylaw of the Ministry, describing a kind of “Ausbildungsverordnung” (Postgraduate education regulation).
  • The trainee period will be organized based on the bylaw. All forest enterprises can offer a trainee period as they are managed by licensed forest engineers.
  • The trainee period is partly “on the job” inside the company, where all subjects shall be covered, partly the education is organized via central training courses, which are obligato-ry for all trainees and organized via the Forestry Chamber.
  • Once the trainees has passed the exam and hold the license, they are obliged to “main-tain the license” via postgraduate training courses (3-5 training days per year; for each course the engineers receive credit points).
  • The postgraduate training is offered by the Forestry Chamber for all engineers. Each year a new program is offered combining standard courses and very actual issues.
  • The “Expert Commission” of the Forestry Chamber is responsible to draft the program, but the main state and private forest enterprises will get a seat and will be asked for pro-posals and shall get a chance to be present in the respective workshops of the Expert Commission.
